UNCW students holds peaceful painting and open mic event in support of Palestine

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — As pro-Palestine protests continue across the country, UNCW held a more peaceful event Monday night in support of Palestine.

The Students Against Injustice Coalition held a painting and open mic event at one of the school’s dining halls.

About 20 students gathered to paint flags and signs to hand out before Friday’s graduation ceremony.

One student even painted their graduation cap to show their solidarity.

Lina Wolff helped organize the event and said it was great seeing students supporting the cause.

“Being vocal and outspoken about their disagreement with what’s going on is very emotional and its something that gives us a lot of pride for our campus to see that there are students who are for this, who are supporting us,” Wolff said.

Along with painting signs, several students addressed the group, sharing their thoughts about the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Wolff said there are other topics and issues the organization plans on addressing and supporting in the future, but for now, they’re going to keep showing their support for Palestine as long as the conflict continues.
